My students need hands-on manipulatives, such as a Classroom Clay and Dough Kit, cubes, and blocks, to build their fine motor skills during morning exploration time.
As a Kindergarten teacher in a Title 1 school, many of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Every day my students face challenges in and out of the classroom, but we always start our day with a morning greeting to show my students they are cared for and loved by their teacher. The students are able to choose a high five, handshake or a hug, many of my students choose a hug, which I love. My students are very active kiddos, who love to learn, read and write they own books.
My Project
The items, such as the Classroom Clay and Dough Kit, cubes, and blocks, that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." The containers have been purchased and I have made the activities to go with these tools. My students love to build and create items during exploration first thing in the morning, but we do not have all the necessary tools to allow all students to do this each and every morning.
Kindergarten students are now entering school with weak fine motor skills that affect their ability to hold a pencil, color and use scissors, all of these are vital parts of the kindergarten day.
