This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The last year of elementary is crucial in preparation for their new journey into middle school. My fifth graders are excited but nervous at the same time to face a new challenge. I want to prepare them and equip them to grow in self-confidence and be academically prepared to face this new challenge.

I always tell my students that learning to face challenges in life is part of their education in their last year of elementary.

They need to learn to make good choices starting now because their choices will affect their future. I want to not only prepare them academically but I want them to become life learners and learn to think for themselves. Life is a journey of many challenges and it's up to us how we handle these challenges.

My Project

Math is a subject many students struggle with, therefore as teachers, we need to find creative ways to make math fun and enjoyable. Using individual whiteboards allows me to have all my students participate in math competitions and learn as they play. I really need these small whiteboards because I only have a few and I need all my students to take part in our response and answer challenges.

With these resources I requested, I will be able to teach fractions in a more visual way.

Students struggle with fractions and I need creative and fun ways to teach them to understand and learn to visualize fractions. Please help me to make teaching more enjoyable and more participative. I don't want my student to just do worksheets.
