Help me give my students Molecular Model sets to enhance their learning through hands-on chemistry.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
For many of my students, the chemistry content seems at first intimidating. However, many are curious about finding new ways to explore the science around them. As students with diverse needs and socio-economic groups, my students need additional hands-on supports. The manipulatives help support all of my students, especially my ELL and SPED students in need of additional visual supports.
Curious about the world around them, my students are eager to work together to help put the puzzle pieces of chemistry together.
My chemistry students are from an agricultural community, where they do not always have access to the hands-on resources they need to meet their learning needs. My students desire more resources to explore and manipulate chemistry with their hands and imaginations.
My Project
With these materials my students will go beyond the chemistry textbook. Students will use the Molecular Model Kits in pairs and groups of four to build 3D molecules. This will give them the opportunity to use their hands and build molecules. As they are doing so, students will be discussing the structures and bonds of the molecules built.
This activity will give students the opportunity to visualize atomic bonds and better describe how atoms are connected in the world around them.
After students build the molecules, they will use the chalk pens to draw and write out their molecules’ make up. This will allow for students to read to determine valence electrons, discuss how atoms would be able to connect to one another or why it is even possible, and write/draw their molecules using the chalk pens on their lab table. This collaborative activity will be a way for my students to explore and have fun learning and showing what they know about atoms beyond the book.
