Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a highly-engaged group of learners, they enjoy learning challenges and spend time to put forth their best effort. They also enjoy hands-on learning experiences and thrive in creative environments.

Our school community has many challenges, one of those challenges is a lack of funding for exciting, project-based learning activities.

This community is a high-need urban community in the middle of an old and respected neighborhood. We are diverse in language and culture and work to create equity for all students.

My goal this year is to extend student learning into open-ended projects that focus on student interest. They are a wonderful group of students that are grateful for each and every opportunity, I want to give them all that I can.

My Project

Book reports are a great way to allow students to complete work based on their personal interests. Our goal for the end of the year is to have each student create a t-shirt book report using fabric markers and a white t-shirt. This activity will allow for personal creativity and will provide students with an open-ended and personalized learning experience.

This project will build an appreciation of reading and writing and will allow students to use their personal creativity in an engaging way.

With enough fabric markers for students to create their t-shirt book reports, students will be able to complete their project at school with teacher support, allowing all students to successfully complete the activity.
