Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the privilege of working in the best Title 1 school in our state. These students are from a variety of backgrounds and cultures which brings such diversity and fun to our school, along with challenges such as language barriers.

My Project

Art is an outlet for many people. Our school is Title 1 and many of our students will never get to experience the many different mediums in art. Students will be able to create artwork that helps them relieve stress and let loose a little. The students at this school are so enthusiastic about trying new artist outlets. They will use clay to create the masterpieces that they have always imagined.

With these materials of clay, markers, etc., the students will be able to create and explore different aspects of learning that align with the state of Utah's visual art standards as well as relieve some of the tension students currently have due to Covid.

I would like to be able to give the students of our school a chance to use more than just the typical art supplies like crayons, pencils, and paper. With these materials, I will be able to teach the students the Utah Visual arts standards and give students a chance to not worry about these crazy times. With Covid all around and there being constant worry, students need the opportunity to just be creative. Creating art can help nurture their inner artist and help them find some peace. During art, students can stimulate their minds, embrace mindfulness, and experience feelings of accomplishment or mastery.
