My students come in everyday and wonder what fun activities we will do today to learn something new. They are excited to learn, read, and practice social skills. They are active and full of life.
Our students come from a variety of economic backgrounds.
We are a Leader in Me School and we have the status of a Lighthouse School. We focus on all students being leaders and giving them opportunities to show their leadership skills in a variety of ways.
My Project
All these materials will help to build my students fine motor skills while practicing a variety of academic concepts. These activities will be used during centers on a daily basis. The activities include using tweezers to sort, count, and do various skills. We are also asking for Lite Brights to spell sight words and also practice spelling short CVC words. Other activities such as the beads, students will be able to create and make different pictures, while building the muscles in their hands. Each activity has fine motor building skills and can easily be tied into the common core with some manipulation of the activity.
Kindergarten students are coming in with less and less fine motor skills.
Fine motor skills include: writing, cutting, and coloring. Writing is now a huge part of kindergarten and students need the hand muscles to have the writing stamina to keep up with the core requirements. Working on building their fine motor skills will increase their writing skills.
These activities will engage, entertain, and teach many skills to my students.
