Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten classrooms should be filled with manipulatives that students can touch and feel. Where they can move around objects and touch the letters.
I am asking for various hands-on materials such as a class set of alphabet letters and their magnetic trays, colored stools for the kidney table to do small group instruction, picture magnets, a Science of Reading Kit, and storage materials for organizing these materials.
I want my class to be independent. If they have an orange tray, they should get the orange alphabet. I have used the blue and red ones in the past and your letters went missing within 5 minutes because no one knew whose letter it was. Suppose I have 5 students sitting at a table. Each student can get the letters that match their tray. No more confusion as to whose letter this is. I can use the red and blue letters for small-group instruction.
I am also asking for the stools to go in the back of the room where my kidney table is. The students know that when they sit will be working with me. Since they are colorful it adds to the brightness of the room. I will use the Science of Reading Kit in small group instruction since I have many of the creator's supplementary materials. The magnets will be used by the students to create CVC words that go with them or the beginning or ending sounds. All of this will be used on their magnetic trays. The organization pouches and the plastic tubs will be used to store some of the materials so the students can get them independently later on. For example a tray, the letters, and some magnets or picture cards in a large mesh bag.
