My Students

Classrooms around the world are quickly evolving to meet the need of active learners.

To prepare my students for their future to the best of my ability, it's imperative that flexibility in decision making and choice is a part of that education.

My students are a lively, eager, and motivated group of first grade students who are ready to learn all that they can. These young students love learning in many different ways, especially when they are in charge of their education. They are always intrigued when they are able to complete an assignment that they have invested choice and ownership in.

My Project

My first grade students are very eager to research and explore new topics independently throughout different units. They currently use iPads, Chromebooks, and non fiction books to research. The addition of an Alexa will continue to keep students engaged and excited about the research process. What a fun way to incorporate the ever changing world of technology into a first grade classroom.

One current example of students use of the Alexa is when we will be researching polar animals.

Students each choose a different animal to research and teach the class about. After researching, if they still have a specific question that they haven't found an answer to, they can use the new technology of the Alexa to dig deeper.
