This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are one of a kind! They come from many different countries and what most amazes me is the ability that they have to never give up and try to push forward. Ever since I've known them, they have never sought to stop learning. With a variety of students from all over the continent, we have a few from Honduras, others come from Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Cuba. Their main barrier in this country is the language. Since their mother tongue isn't English, they struggle while they move forward. We live in a technological world! That is amazing; everything is through the computer! Now, my students need more access to computers.
Children attending my school live in a low socioeconomic area and don't have access to technology.
We don't have enough headphones in my class so the utilization of i-Ready, Reflex Math or App for Math is difficult to do.
Most of the families of the children are back in their home country which makes learning even more complicated than it's supposed to be; thereby making everything harder for them. Having your parent's support means everything for a child when they are struggling through school.
My Project
I teach at an inner city school. We are a Title l school. That means 98% of the students receive free or reduced-priced lunch. Many of my students are English Language Learners and they are one or two years below grade level.
My students are enthusiastic about school but struggle with Math and Language Arts content.
Children attending my school live in a low socioeconomic area, and they don't have access to technology. The primary goal of using the four Samsung Chromebooks & Google Chrome Management Software for Math and/or Language Arts is to create a Technological center that will provide multiple functions.
These functions are listed below:
-Access to IReady, Reflex Math, Prodigy,MyOn, Kahoot, etc.
-Improve their fluency abilities working with numbers and operation, geometry, measurement, and algebraic thinking.
-Increase their vocabulary by enhancing reading skills.
-Develop fluency in their Math process (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
-Develop the critical thinking of the students by having them understand and comprehend the basic process reading words problems.
With these improvements in the classroom, the students will be able to develop a well-rounded and mixed learning system that will help them succeed! It will be an enormous source of knowledge, diverse as my students. With the support of this new and revolutionary technology, there will be a vast improvement in their learning systems.
My second goal is to offer them the right opportunities to foster their Math skills, creativity, and a thirst for knowledge. There are tons of web-based learning and educational programs and activities that children at my school could benefit from. Having access to the programs could assist with school success, social skills, and with Math skills.
