Help me give my students the chance to learn about mass, volume and density by using these cubes because I want my students to learn that objects of different materials have different properties.

My Students
I have amazing 7th and 8th grade students who loves to explore and curious about so many things. They love Science since it relates to things they observe around them and it even connects to their selves.
Learning by seeing motivates my students but learning by doing makes them understand it.
With this in mind, I've always been doing demonstrations in class to present my lessons and followed it up with lab experiments and projects so they get to experience and learn from it.
A lot of my students are very vocal of saying that they love Science. But even if they don't say it, it gives me fulfillment as a teacher whenever I see them doing hands-on activities and their eyes widen and their lips smile every time they observe something amazing. At the end of the day, remembering their "thank yous" is enough to pay off my tiredness and refreshes me to look forward to another engaging lesson the next day.
My Project
The topic on density is hard to explain if students don't actually see it. I want to create an engaging activity on this heavy topic. Using different cubes of different materials will make my students learn about mass, volume and density.
Density might be a "heavy" topic to teach but a discovery method experiment using density cubes will make them learn it by doing.
This will help measure the volume, gather the mass, calculate for the density. Students will then make a prediction if the each cube will float or sink in water by comparing the cube density to the density of water.
I believe that having them discover on their own rather than teaching them the concepts or facts will give them more confidence and curiosity. Thank you in advance.
