Students used the online program Canva to design their earrings or pendants. We were able to then print out the designs on iron on paper from our sublimation printer. Students then cut out their designs and put them on the blanks where we heated them up to 300 degrees for 45 seconds and then let them cool for 10 seconds before peeling the paper off. Students are so excited to start growing seeds. Many of them ask if the seeds will actually start growing. I love the idea that the seed is the teacher. If students don't water the soil enough the seed won't grow and if the plant is not taken care of the plant will die. We are excited to have students start using these resources to grow food for our community. Students have created many different art pieces. Some of the art pieces include a large dinosaur, cars, and a model of a virtual headset. Students love the medium as it is easy to manipulate using the box cutters that you helped us recieve. Students are eager to create more pieces using cardboard and the next project will be to create a game using this medium. We have taken specimens from our garden like flowers and students have taken pictures of the flowers and have even found organisms that live in the flowers. Students can be heard being amazed at how clear the picture is after learning how to focus on the specimen. The light switch allows you to dim the amount of light you need which allows students to take the best microscopic pictures possible. We have used the printer to have students create their own design using Canva. Student then were able to print their design on iron on paper and then transfer their design to clothing, keychains and coasters. Students were so proud of their design and the fact that they were able to take home their design was very satisfying to them. Students will be designing t-shirts, hats, and mugs in the future. Students took pieces of clay and created a ball. Then students learned to center the clay ball. Students were able to throw clay once it was centered. Students enjoyed making pieces using the wheel and learned the importance of centering and how to use the wheel. Pieces were made that will be entered into the art fair and students learned how clay can loose its elasticity. We will continue to explore the different ways we can acknowledge different cultures by paper folding. Origami will also help us practice mindfulness as it is an activity in which students need to focus on one thing.
