It's been incredible watching students connect their nightly observations to the science behind the lunar cycle.\r\n\r\nTheir faces lit up with excitement when I unpacked the telescope! Most of them had never looked through one before, so getting a close-up view of the moon was a totally new experience. I am very happy to see the excitement in the face of my 8th grade students. \r\n\r\nThis will not become possible without your golden heart to support my project. Your thoughtfulness and commitment to supporting the diverse needs of our learners have made a meaningful and immediate impact in our classrooms—and in the lives of the students we serve.\r\n\r\nYour contribution arrived at exactly the right time. Many of our students benefit from sensory supports to help them regulate emotions, stay focused, and fully engage in learning. Thanks to your donation, we now have access to an incredible array of tools including fidget items, textured objects, sensory bins, weighted lap pads, noise-canceling headphones, and more—each of which plays a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive environment.\r\n\r\nSince integrating your donated supplies into our Pre-K and middle school classrooms, we've witnessed immediate and powerful changes: calmer transitions, improved focus during academic tasks, reduced sensory overload, and, most importantly, happier, more confident learners. Students who once struggled to feel comfortable in the classroom now have the support they need to participate more fully and joyfully in their school day.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has also deeply impacted our educators and staff. With access to these sensory tools, our team feels better equipped to respond to students' needs in a compassionate, proactive, and individualized way. It has opened up opportunities for meaningful conversations about neurodiversity, and it has helped foster a culture of understanding, patience, and care throughout our school community.\r\n\r\nParents and caregivers have shared their appreciation as well. They are thrilled to see their children coming home with stories of success and comfort at school—something that, for many families, once felt out of reach. Your donation has given both our students and their families a renewed sense of hope, possibility, and belonging.\r\n\r\nPlease know that your kindness and support will continue to resonate far beyond this school year. These sensory items will serve many students for years to come, becoming an essential part of the inclusive learning environment we are striving to build every day.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and for helping to create a space where neurodivergent learners are not only supported but celebrated for who they are. Your donation has made a lasting impact, and we are so grateful for your partnership in our mission.","fullyFundedDate":1736357643758,"projectUrl":"project/neurodiversity-affirming-classroom/8932419/","projectTitle":"Neurodiversity Affirming Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fig","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9502562_orig.jpg?crop=800,800,x86,y35&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731126465283","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/miss-figg"},{"teacherId":9502562,"projectId":8932341,"letterContent":"On behalf of our entire school community, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous donation of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) supplies for our Pre-K and middle school students. Your thoughtful contribution is already making a meaningful difference in the lives of our students who rely on AAC to connect with their peers, educators, and the world around them.\r\n\r\nCommunication is a fundamental human right, and for many of our students, AAC is the bridge that allows them to express themselves, learn, and thrive in a classroom environment. Your donation is more than just equipment—it's empowerment. Thanks to you, our students now have access to tools that give them a voice, promote independence, and build confidence in ways that words alone cannot capture.\r\n\r\nFrom communication boards and speech-generating devices to visual supports and adapted materials, the resources you've provided are being used daily by students with a wide range of needs. Our Pre-K students are beginning to make meaningful choices during play and daily routines, while our middle schoolers are using AAC tools to participate more fully in classroom discussions, group work, and social interactions. It is truly incredible to witness the joy and engagement that these tools foster.\r\n\r\nYour support also extends beyond our students—it has uplifted our entire school community. Our teachers and support staff feel more empowered to implement effective communication strategies, and families are deeply moved by the increased opportunities for their children to connect and grow. This donation has sparked conversations about inclusivity, accessibility, and the importance of meeting each student where they are, with the tools they need to succeed.\r\n\r\nPlease know that your generosity will have a lasting impact. The AAC supplies will continue to be used for years to come, benefitting not only our current students but many future learners as well. We are committed to maintaining and utilizing these resources to their fullest potential, and we are inspired by your example to continue advocating for inclusive education practices.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your incredible support and for believing in the potential of every child. Your gift is helping us create a learning environment where all students feel seen, heard, and valued.
