My Project
How will the specific items you’re requesting make a difference in their learning? With new education laws in testing and education in Arkansas, come changes for my classroom. The first change is that I now have inclusion kids in my room, so kids with special needs are in my room daily. I need to be able to provide them with a good handheld calculator to use. This will make a huge difference for them because using the calculator on a screen isn't always the best option for all students. My students are also required to take the Atlas Test this year. This test does provide an on-screen calculator, but they can use handheld ones during testing. This will be more beneficial to them so that they can view their whole screen during the test, and not just part of it while the calculator is open. As of now, my students will have to share calculators on test day. The purchase of calculators will make a huge difference for my kids.
My goal for this project is to provide a handheld calculator to each student in my 8th-grade math class.
While they do have technology that can help them, nothing can replace the value of a good calculator in hand.
Each of my students has special qualities that make them exceptional in his or her way. While not everyone I teach is an A student, each of them is smart in one way or another, and having these calculators in hand will help show some of them their worth because they will gain confidence.
