My Students
My students are PASSIONATE about learning!!! They have beautiful and creative minds; they need a little help bringing it out. I want to safely teach my students in a face to face setting to help them bring out their creativity and learning.
My students are full of life and energy and are always excited to learn.
They come from a disadvantaged school on the Windward side of Oahu. Our school is located in a predominately rural, low-income neighborhood with a considerable portion of Hawaiian and Micronesian ancestry children. I have a very diverse class of 20 students from different cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. They are motivated young students who struggle with learning due to the lack of accessible tools.
My Project
My kindergarten classroom is a bustling place! The new physical setup of our class is geared toward students working independently and in small groups. My students use a lot of hands-on materials throughout the day to enhance their learning experience.
Having student activity books cover number sense: counting, number sense: naming and comparing, number operations: base ten operations, number operations: algebraic thinking, geometry: shapes and attributes, and geometry and date: measurement, data, and money will assist me in teaching my students lifelong skills.
Allowing students to use manipulatives such as VersaTiles is an alternative to traditional skills practice while creating a safe learning environment that increases student confidence and assisting me with a low-prep classroom solution.
hand2mind kits are aligned to State and National Standards, and for over 50 years, hand2mind has encouraged hands-on learning and discovery, driving deeper understanding and helping students unlock their full potential.
