My Students

In my ninth through twelve grade, a diverse population of high school students are coming back to school under a variety of circumstances including a pandemic. They are going to need a lot of support.

It has been a pretty tough year for all of us all around, but these children, being from poor homes as defined by our Title I school district status (100% free lunch), have had a much more disappointing and difficult time.

Approximately 95% of our school population is African American. The students are mostly from single-parent households. My students (9th - 12th grade) are bright, energetic, talented, and resourceful.

After a pretty disappointing last school year, it is my desire to make our class as safe and clean as possible as we start to return to face-to-face instruction during this pandemic.

My Project

My students and I are well often preparing for production amidst a pandemic. "The Show Must Go On."

As we head I'm to Winter season and find ourselves even more susceptible to not only colds and flu, but now Covid it is essential that we stay healthy and safe.

We will be organizing our multiple space classroom spaces again after a year off from in person instruction. Specifically, we will be for organizing and cleaning the Costume Room, Prop Room and adjacent dressing rooms and bathrooms.

We will use wipes. masks and paper towels to clean the Theatre spaces to keep ourselves safe.

Sometimes when creating crafts, or props or performing a scene, we have spills, etc. Although the custodian cleans once a day, we use the spaces multiple times during the day and most evenings. In addition, we will need hand towels, wipes, hand sanitizer to assist with staying fresh and clean.

Now, with the additional concern about Covid, it is even more important that we are able to keep ourselves safe and our spaces clean.

We have several projects and performances planned which would involve guest accessing our space that we want to be clean and presentable and safe. In addition, we want an environment that will promote health and wellness for all students.

It is our hope that once things are organized, we can maintain it and maximize the effectiveness of our program while staying safe, fresh and clean.
