I mainly teacher electrical to 45 students 9th through 12th grade both male and female in my class. The students in my class want to get more hands on and I am getting ready to get them in the shop. I enjoy teaching electrical and my student are starting to enjoy it also. I would like and I am sure that they would like to do some projects that are meaningful and that they can take home and use. Also to show off what they have learned. I feel that having them do hand on project will keep the spark as we go from book to shop so the student stay wanting to learn more to go back in the shop to work. They also enjoy taking thing they made home. My student's will be safe by wearing safety protective equipment that will be their for the year. This will give them pride that they own something (safety glasses). It will also give them responsibility and learn to take care of their own tools. I will teach them and get them to practice bending EMT by hand using a hand bender. It takes practice and this project will do it.
My Project
My students will be able to learn how to bend EMT to have a upper hand when they get into the work force. In the electrical field hand bending is a must to learn and it take practice to get good at it. Having this materials (pipe bender and safety glasses) in the shop will help my student grow by being able to practice. Without this I would not be able to give them the practice they need. I would like to give my students the most hands on experience I can in the classroom. In the Photo is a project we did in class. Students had to use a power circular saw, power reciprocator saw, jig saw and power drill.
