My Project

My 8th grade students are part of the House of Hamilton. Our building has six different teams and I want my kids to be proud that this is their team.

I've learned that students who have a sense of belonging, community and connection are more successful and happy in the classroom.

Our House color is gray and this project will give us two ways to show that pride. First, students will make their own Hamilton bracelets with the beads and stretchy cord. I know that they'll have fun making them and then will wear them every day as a subtle reminder of their team. The paint will let us make a mural of all of their handprints that we can hang in the hallway outside of our House classrooms. Every student will be able to see the mark that they made on this community.
