My Students
The school in which I teach has a very diverse background. There is a high refugee population near the school, and we are an ELL magnet. This means we have kids that speak 18 different languages and come from all sorts of economic backgrounds.
There are seven different languages spoken in my class alone!
The kids in my class are not only adjusting to first grade but a lot of times our country as well. I do my best to accommodate all the learning styles in my classroom. There are students who don't speak English, kids that have a tough time focusing for a multitude of reasons, kids that are extraordinary helpers and learners, kids that have home lives that make me envious, and kids that have home lives I wouldn't wish for them.
Overall, the students in my class are absolutely amazing! These kids have so much grit and try their best at everything they do. They are amazing learners and the kindest group of kiddos!
My Project
A lot of the students in my class are English language learners. What this means is that they speak English at school but use a different language at home. In order to help them learn English, I use a computer program call Imagine Learning.
Quality headphones will help students stay focused on the task at hand.
This will help them learn English and be more successful students.
Headphones I've purchased for my students in the past have cords that tear, ear pieces that come off, did not fit in our storage bin, and more. I'm asking for new headphones so my students can have the tools they need to succeed.
More than half of students from low‑income households
