Half-Moon Collaboration Table (née “Get In, Lunar. We’re Going Talking.”)

My Project

Meaningful discussion and collaboration are essential to creating a vibrant classroom community where all students' voices are heard. Students are more invested in their education when they are able to meaningfully interact and contribute to their learning in a collaborative space.

This project might be for a half-moon table and chairs, but I will be FULLY over the moon about the collaborative learning space and dynamic discussions it will foster in my classroom!

This space will take the physical place of my desk and will serve as the "teacher table" during stations where I will facilitate small group instruction and students' working toward the shared goal of proficiency. When students share their unique perspectives and thought processes with one another as part of the learning process through collaboration, they are able to contribute to and enhance their own learning and academic experience.

P.S. “Get in, Lunar. We’re Going Talking” was the original name of this project and is a play on Regina’s line in Mean Girls “Get in, loser. We’re going shopping.” Lunar sort of rhymes with loser and talking has similar cadence to shopping. I thought it was very clever but realized it might not make sense to a lot of people, hence the project’s name change!
