Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have showed a love for the sciences and an excitement for hands-on learning. All the labs we have participated in have been met with insightful questions and a genuine wonder about the way things are and the way things work.

At a high school in urban Kansas City, my students have persevered through life challenges and obstacles that prove their determination, critical thinking skills, and grit to succeed in the STEM fields.

I have the honor of being their teacher, and am continuously looking for engaging and exciting ways to further develop their love for such an important subject. I strive to create a stimulating classroom environment where they can continue to grow, learn, explore, and have daily opportunities to set goals for their bright futures.

My Project

As a science teacher and coach, proper hydration is important for students to excel inside and outside of the classroom! This year, drinking fountains are closed except to FILL our bottles of water, leaving students thirsty and dehydrated.

Water is an obvious essential for students to perform academically and outside the classroom, but often overlooked unless students bring a water bottle to school, and the disposal water bottles I am currently providing are costly and at the expense of the environment.

I have a Cricut, and personalizing water bottles for my advisory students and athletes has been shown to keep students hydrated with a sense of pride and ownership over their water bottle because who doesn't love their name and water?! By providing water bottles in bulk, I will be able to make any student in need a water bottle to be used over and over, a benefit to their health and the environments!
