Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My goal is to make my classroom fun and engaging. I want my students to love coming to school and to be active learners!

I have 24 kindergarten and transitional kindergarten students.

They come to school each day with big smiles on their faces and are ready to learn. I teach in a low income school with a high number of English language learners. My school is innovative and offers a wide variety of after school clubs to give opportunities to students that many probably wouldn't have otherwise.

My Project

My students use iPads in the classroom every day. During our literacy rotation, students work in a differentiated phonics program for at least 15 minutes. They play fun games that practice common core standards such as alphabet recognition, letter sounds, sight words, blending, and more! During math centers, students work in a differentiated common core based math program that focuses on all domains of mathematics. Both programs are very engaging and motivating for my students!

We currently have cheap headphones that the students use.

After several years of use by 5 year olds, they are falling apart or broken. The new headphones I am requesting are much higher quality, are comfortable for their ears, and have cords that will last much longer. This will make a huge difference during our technology centers!
