Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in a diverse school community. Though the majority of our students are Hispanic, other cultural groups are represented, including students of Asian ancestry. I want to give our students the opportunity to learn about the different cultural traditions of their classmates.
Developing cultural awareness allows students to appreciate and respect those who are different from them.
The goal of this project is to engage students in learning about Lunar New Year. Through books, internet research, and the LEGO kit, students will learn about Lunar New Year traditions. Finally, students will create Lunar New Year crafts to culminate their learning.
