My Students

Our high school runs a guitar program that gives students the opportunity to experience music through learning the guitar. All of the classes are mixed high school grades 9-12 and range from several sections of Beginner Guitar and Intermediate Guitar classes which lead to a performing Guitar Ensemble course. It is a Title 1 school in Brooklyn, NY and one of the most diverse ethnically and socioeconomically.

My classes are full of amazing young guitarists that are learning about the world through music.

Much of the curriculum includes modern to world music for a holistic education.

My Project

I teach a guitar program in local Brooklyn High School and have more than 200 students. Since the school closed for online learning I surveyed my students and found that 50 do not have instruments of their own at home.

I'm doing this project to be able to provide guitars for the 50 students that do not have them so that all students can continue learning guitar at home through online lessons during the quarantine period.
