Guitar Heros

Help me give my students a set of class guitars! Each student would have their own individual guitar to work with at school and have the ability to take them home to practice.

My Students

These students are up for anything! Learning how to play the guitar can be intimidating, but nothing is worth more than seeing their smile when they finally can play something. Our guitar students have a lot of focus and work ethic while having a fun time!

My Project

We all loved feeling like a rockstar when the games "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band" came out in the early 2000s. Our high school students have the unique opportunity to learn how to play the guitar for free in a year-long course. Right now, we are using donated guitars from the community. These donations have sparked creativity in our students and have inspired them to purchase their own guitars. While we sincerely appreciate these donated guitars, some are in a little rough shape, and every guitar is different.

Our goal for this project is to have a set of identical guitars, so students do not feel discouraged about having a lower quality guitar than one of their peers.

The guitars will be used for in-class instruction, where they will learn individual notes, finger positions, chord charts, and various musical styles. The skills they learn in the classroom will set them up to be independent learners of the guitar outside of the classroom.
