Guinea Pig Food and Cage Liners

Help me give my students supplies (pellets, hay, canvas bottom) to keep their guinea pigs clean and fed!

My Students

I have been inspired by my students' resilience and creativity during these strange times.

My students are supported by a loving community.

Their families are able to pick up lunch, school supplies, and home essentials from school five mornings each week.

Most of my student's learning comes from weekly packets that I create, then families pick up from school. Our school district was recently donated laptops and WiFi hotspots for all families, so online learning is becoming more accessible. Students are earning points for worksheets completed, and are looking forward to their end of year prizes to be delivered to their homes!

My Project

Students adore their class guinea pigs, Lefty and Presley! These cute pets usually inhabit a multi-level cage in a quiet corner of the classroom. During the quarantine, they are being cared for at my home.

This donation provides approximately one year's worth of guinea pig food, keeping them fat, happy and camera-ready through the rest of the COVID closure and beyond.

This allows me to continue to use the guinea pigs as teaching tools via photo and video chat. Transitioning to video learning can be a little awkward, but including our furry friends can be a great icebreaker.

When school is in session, Lefty and Presley are one of our best teaching tools. Students learn responsibility and care-taking skills, as well as life science. Not to mention the emotional comfort that these sweet pets provide!

I also asked for extra washable liners for their cages to keep them fresh and clean. Thank you for your interest in my project!
