Every child in my class is unique and benefits from varied approaches to learning; the materials requested will help me meet their needs.
These students have a lot of factors that impede their learning due to financial situations, housing issues, parental support at home, and other factors they may be challenged within the community.
Despite these challenges, my students do their best to focus on school and their learning when they enter the classroom. They are working on consistently being self-directed learners by focusing on their work and managing their time efficiently. They work very hard and strive to produce quality work. They collaborate together and assist each other when academic or social help is needed. We are ALL constantly working on ways we can improve whether it is academic, social, or behavioral, as a class we discuss ways we can be better citizens and work towards our goal. They are truly a great bunch of kids!
My Project
"When teachers grow, so do learners." I strive to be a role model for the students in my class. From the beginning of the year, we learn about growth mindset. I tell them that I am still learning and I even learn from them every day.
These math resources will help me grow as a teacher to fine tune my math teaching so students will benefit through their learning in math.
The Common Core Companion will assist me with understanding the standards that I am responsible for. If I have a clearer goal or learning target, I can translate that to the students and we can work towards a common goal. Since I teach fourth grade and the book covers grade 3-5, third grade standards will provide a basis of foundational skills my students should know and fifth grades standards can help me extend the learning of students who are reading.
Math in Practice and Mathematical Mindsets will provide me with resources of the grade 4 math standards as well as strategies and activities to help me foster student learning, understanding, and application.
