My Students

I teach at a dynamic school that focuses on performing arts and environmental science. My students are extremely diverse, come from all areas, socioeconomic status, and backgrounds.

My students love to learn by enjoying hands-on, active lessons and are driven by technology and reading.

They are amazing students, leaders, and individuals! Our students are leaders who follow the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. They take initiative and use the habits to shape their lives and their learning. They lead to succeed!

My Project

My reading students spend a great amount of time in small groups being guided through text and practicing critical thinking skills while reading. The rigor and expectations for our readers are very high and we will use these engaging materials to provide small group lessons that pique their interest and keep them excited about reading. We will have interactive games and challenges that will keep kids motivated to try their best. The texts will be mainly nonfiction and this will not only build our comprehension but will also integrate important Social Studies and Science content into our lessons. We will use the nonfiction text sets to reinforce important reading skills like comparing and contrasting across texts, determining main ideas and details and cause and effect. We will practice these skills and use timers, buzzers, and dry erase markers to make the lessons more game based and competitive. Students will be boosting their knowledge of concepts from U.S. history to world studies and many different physical, health, and environmental science topics.
