Guided Reading Wobble Stools

My Students

My students come from all kinds if backgrounds and incomes. The moment that they step into my classroom, I bring back the sense of family and community. One student told her mother she did not want to come to school on the last day because she did not want to have to say goodbye. They are my kids and family and I treat them as such. In my classroom we collaborate together to just talk things out. I could not imagine any other job.

My Project

Each year I purchase new regular stools for my guided reading table because the students lean back and end up bending the legs. Each time they lean I have to pause and redirect them so that they do not fall and hurt themselves which takes away from our guided reading instruction time.

These stools will allow the students to wobble as they need to help focus and it will minimize cut instruction time by me not having to redirect for sitting purposes.

There is so much rigor in our standards that need to be covered, but we have to remember that theses kids are still five and need to move/wobble a little to stay focused.
