This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Kindergarten at a Title I school in Montgomery Village, MD. Kindergarten aged students are the best age group to teach! They are curious, excited and motivated to learn. My students are no exceptions.

Kindergarten is a time for exploration, social development and excitement!

I make sure that all of my students experience a warm, loving atmosphere with a structured learning environment that best meets their needs.

A lot of my students are English Language Learners and work so hard to not only learn to read and write, but also speak a brand new language! It is imperative that each students has exactly what they need to meet their specific learning needs, particularly in reading/fundamental skills instruction.

My Project

These supplies will help my Kindergarten students learn to read in Guided Reading Groups. The leveled books will provide students with frequent practice at home and in school. Bags will assist students in transporting the books safely back and forth. Dry erase boards along with markers and erasers will allow students to practice writing sight words and other foundational skills necessary to excel in reading.

Guided Reading Groups allow students to read with guidance, support and encouragement.

These materials will provide students with everything they will need to become successful and confident readers. My main goal is to build a confidence and love for reading for my young learners in hopes that this strong foundation will carry on with them forever.
