My students are amazing and are eager to learn. In the first grade, they are learning their basic foundations that will help them be successful in their future. They are learning how to read, write and basic math skills, and I am able to teach them those skills when we do our guided reading time.
Our school has a majority of the students who receive free and reduced price lunch and we don't have a lot of extra money in our school for new things like chairs.
Getting something new in my class is always exciting to my 1st graders and I would like some new chairs for my guided reading table. These chairs will be colorful and stackable so they are easy to put away.
My Project
Each day I teach guided reading and I have groups of 4 students and we come back to the guided reading table. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them and the chairs we currently have are old and very heavy to put up.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are comfortable.
The stools that I have selected will help my students by giving them stools. They are backless and will allow students to sit up and be engaged at the table. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just want to lean back and put the book in their lap. They stools are lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
