it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember the first time you read a book and submerged yourself in the story? My students will be very happy to feel the way you felt then, and that would only be possible by helping them improve their reading ability through a guided reading library.
I am the teacher of a lively bunch of 4th graders.
Our school is in a high need community in New York City. Most of the students in the school qualify for free lunch due to their parents' low income. Most of our students live in poverty, which makes it difficult to depend on parents for donations. In addition, budget cuts to education are limiting the ability to provide better resources to every student.
My Project
Please help my students by donating guided reading books. In September my students came in to school reading at levels J through M. Now they are reading through level P. However, the guided reading library that we have does not have any books beyond level P. The students have been working very hard to get where they are and it is frustrating not being able to help them further. With your generous help, I will be able to help them move up further in their reading levels and become better readers; thus, better learners for years to come.

The stakes are high and the expectations even higher with the new design of the State test. My students know this and are motivated to continue preparing themselves. This can only be possible with the proper resources. The resources that you will donate to my students.
