This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am teaching a wonderful class of 35 third graders who are very eager to learn. They are hard workers who have been trying their best their best despite such a large class size. I want them to continue to be motivated but feel I might not be able to meet the needs of all my students due to limited resources.

I believe all my students should have a good education with the resources they need.

I teach at a Chicago Public School where there have been many budget cuts, which means larger class sizes.

My Project

Guided Reading is an expectation in every class. During this time, students come to me in small groups and we work on a specific skill that they need to push them to the next level.

A guided reading lesson is only as good as the book the students are reading.

When the text doesn't grab their attention, it is hard for my students to stay engaged. I am requesting the leveled guided reading set 1 with specially selected books for every reading level.

The library includes 80 books leveled using Fountas and Pinnell's system...making it easy to provide differentiated instruction - and meet every student's needs.

This library will be an excellent addition to our everyday reading routine!
