My first grade students love to learn! Every morning they walk into our classroom with a big smile. They love to read, to be read to, play math games, work on coding and write stories. They are curious and inquisitive children, and they challenge me every day to grow with them and be the best I can be.
We work hard to create a classroom community where students can explore, wonder, and discover the world around them.
We ask questions, share our ideas, expand our learning environment using technology, and publish our work to share with the world. They work and collaborate with one another to learn.
Our school also focuses on character building. Children's kindness and compassion are recognized and celebrated. We are proud to be a part of an amazing school. We are family. We learn, play, laugh and grow together!
My Project
In first grade many children learn to read. I use Guided Reading instructions to support my students. In small groups, the students are introduced to "just right" level of books. They learn and practice many reading strategies to use when they read independently.
This school year we have to get creative about delivering quality instructions because of the COVID-19 guidelines.
An access to the digital books will allow me to continue with differentiated instructions to support blooming readers in a safe environment. I can't wait to see my students' proud faces when they know they can be a great reader!
