Guided Reading Books Grow Strong Readers.

Help me give my students guided reading books to grow them as readers!

My Students

The students that attend my school are extraordinary students who love to read. Many of the students here are reading below grade level and are reluctant readers. Many of our students do not have reading materials at home. As a result of limited exposure and other environmental factors, many of our students fall behind. Kindergarten is the foundation for our students. Reaching them earlier is best for a lifelong impact. The demographics of our school are diverse: Forty-eight percent African American, six percent Hispanic, forty-two percent Caucasian and a total of fifty-six percent are economically disadvantaged. Our students are capable and eager.

Let's give our Kindergarten students the literacy foundation that they need to be successful throughout their years!

My Project

I am asking for several titles across levels A-D for our Kindergarten students. Our students are working on the foundations of reading both with their fluency and comprehension. They need more structured books that provide us with the opportunity to ask questions, find text evidence, and make connections. Having several books across both reading levels and non-fiction and fiction genres allow our students the most exposure to books as possible.

Reading is a gift that must be nurtured to blossom.

Our students need these books to make the most of their time in guided reading groups and really bloom as readers.
