Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our 2nd grade students come from very diverse backgrounds. For many of them, English is a second language. My students are extremely enthusiastic learners who enjoy using hands-on materials to help them learn! We focus on learning through communication and teamwork, which develops a sense of family and strong support!
This year, our grade level team would like to incorporate a variety of leveled books for students to read during our Guided Reading.
We need Guided Reading leveled sets to make this happen!
My Project
A variety of Guided Reading leveled sets are necessary to ensure students are receiving adequate instruction at their instructional level. When students come to Guided Reading, each student should be able to have their own book, which is why sets of 6 are being ordered. With very limited resources, we are in need of these leveled sets.
The last school I taught in had these books, and the students absolutely loved them.
They made amazing connections between the characters in this series. I would like to the provide instruction these students deserve by providing a variety of books during Guided Reading.
Students do not always fit in a "Low, Middle or High" category which is why I would like to provide them with books on their specific reading levels. These books would help us start the school year with strong Guided Reading instruction using text levels that best fit the students.
