Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students love coming to school each day. They bring so many personal experiences, languages, and excitement. Most students come to us with very limited English language skills (if any) and could use additional support in literacy.
These bilingual leveled books will allow all students in a small guided reading group to have their own book as they learn to read in both English and Spanish.
It will also give them opportunities to read and connect to their home language of Spanish. These readers also help English learners by putting visuals to words. Making connections is so important and encourages the love of learning! I can't wait to get these new readers in their little hands and see bilingual books! We have never had bilingual leveled books before so this is brand new.
