This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a low-income high-needs urban community, which I have loved serving for the past 15 years. We are a Title I school, where 100% of our students receive free lunch. This is a community that endures poverty and violence but continues to overcome every challenge by rebuilding and transforming their neighborhood. This resilience and enthusiasm is reflected in our children.
My students come from diverse backgrounds, and all arrive in my classroom eager to learn, to succeed, and to feel safe and loved.
My goal as their teacher is to make sure these needs are met every day. I want to provide them with every opportunity afforded to others. I hope you will join me!
My Project
This school year has taught me that I need to be prepared to adapt to changing situations and limitations. The same is true for my classroom. I realize I need mobile furniture that can go with me wherever I need to be.
My intention for this mobile storage cart is to house my Guided Reading materials, from leveled readers, to sight word and alphabet cards, to markers and white boards.
I know it will facilitate learning and instruction, whether we are dealing with spacing restrictions, or are simply enhancing the flow of flexible grouping.
