Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We're a very active kindergarten class. Students are always on the move to centers and guided reading or math groups to learn the standards we are trying to cover and keep them engaged. We love to use technology in centers and guided groups, as well as in our thematic units.
I have a classroom with students ranging from kindergarten in abilities below grade level with special needs, to above.
We have a wide range of abilities that need major differentiation. The wonderful thing about my class is that students can work at their own ability level. I do not like to limit my students to what is taught at their grade level. On the other hand, I have students who are working at a slower pace. We are working on being good leaders in our community by learning manners and treating others with kindness.
My Project
As students are learning to read, they need access to high quality, engaging texts that they can actually read! These decodable readers will provide students with the word practice they need to grow as readers, while also keeping them engaged! I would love to have new decodable readers for the students to take home during our distance learning
Providing students with books students can read and decode can increase student motivation and overall progress in reading.
With these decodable readers, students will feel more confident in their own reading skills and will be more interested in reading on their own! I am also asking for supplies to do science experiments at home to spice up our zoom meetings.
