Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have big feelings. As fifth graders, they are entering the stage of adolescence that begins to give them roller-coaster feelings and they need help managing and self-regulating.
It is important children learn that having big feelings such as anger, sadness, anxiety, and so on, are all normal emotions that we all experience as humans and so they need to learn the tools to self-regulate and successfully manage those big feelings so as to not feel out of control.
This journal, "The Big Book of Life" has daily engaging, intentional and guided journaling prompts, page after page, guiding children, to acknowledge and feel those big feelings, identifying how they are feeling, and possibly why they are feeling in such a way. My saying is if you can name it, you can manage it. It guides them to change their mindset into a more flexible and positive mindset, giving themselves grace and resets.
