Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a physical education teacher, I have the widest variety of students available to my school. As a girls flag football coach, I have a group of girls that want to be involved in the school and show pride in themselves and their school.
At the school that I teach, we are considered Title 1; actually, more than 90 percent of our students fall into being able to receive free or reduced lunch.
Additionally, most of the school is comprised of minorities. This allows me, as a teacher, to truly see what a diverse nation we are becoming.
My Project
My girls flag football team has a lot of heart. These girls have been desperately wanting to train and compete at their best. Unfortunately, the girls were hit with Hurricane Irma. This meant that competing took a back burner to making sure they were safe and rebuilding.
My team deserves to play safely.
Because of Hurricane Irma, funds were distributed to different avenues. Paying for mouth-guards and training shorts was not on their family's priority list. That is were this project hopes to compensate. If this project is funded, the girls flag football team will be better equipped to compete safely.
