My scholars come from various walks of life into my classroom. Some know little about who they are or what they want to be, but they come with a desire to learn and improve themselves. Although many have little in terms of finance, they come with a wealth of enthusiasm and curiosity. I hope to keep those fires burning long after they leave my classroom.
I work at a Title I school in Texas where 92% of our scholars are low socioeconomic status and 84% are at-risk.
I do not want those statistics to define my school and scholars. I know and believe that the faculty and staff at my school are working relentlessly to see our scholars succeed. We know that each individual has the potential for greatness and we are pushing them to heights they never thought imaginable. Upon graduation, our scholars should represent the pillars of pride, respect, and responsibility as they continue their educational journey.
We are starting up our soccer season and we need your help! Many of our young ladies on the team have to borrow shinguards from family members because they cannot afford their own. I hope to provide them with their own pair to keep for their entire soccer career.
These young ladies represent the best parts of our school.
Many of them have multiple responsibilities outside of the classroom and soccer is a way for them to enjoy and challenge themselves. For some, soccer is a way for them to be seen by a college and possibly extend their academic journey.
I hope that all the young ladies on my team use soccer as a platform to achieve their goals.
