This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our school, our student Safety Patrol members are dedicated leaders who play a vital role in ensuring the safety of our school community. These 4th and 5th grade students volunteer their time to direct pedestrians at school crossings, carpool areas, and bus zones, helping to ensure a smooth and safe arrival and dismissal for over 500 students each day. They are trained in essential road safety skills, learning how to direct children (not traffic) and serving as positive role models for their peers.

Our Safety Patrol uses stop signs, poles, and slow down signs to help guide students safely.

However, much of our equipment is old, worn out, and in some cases, falling apart. We lack the necessary funds to purchase new equipment, which puts our student patrollers at risk and hinders their ability to perform their duties effectively. This Donors Choose project will directly address this need by funding the purchase of new stop signs, reflective vests, neon baseball caps, and extension poles to keep the students off the streets during their duty. These new resources will not only enhance the safety of our students but also empower our Safety Patrol members to continue their important work with confidence and pride. Investing in our Safety Patrol is an investment in the safety and well-being of our entire school community. Please help us equip these young leaders with the tools they need to keep their classmates safe!
