My students need uplifting books to help motivate them as we continue to work on our growth mindsets. These books will encourage and empower my students to do "hard things" all year!

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I can do hard things", said one of my Literacy students. This is our motto in my class this year! My class consists of students who have struggled with reading for the last 3 years. In my class you will see students who have had a difficult time staying on task and just need small group instruction. My kids vary from English Language Learning students, Special Education Students, and students who need lots of repetition. My students have been working on having a growth mindset so we are eager to dive into the year! My students begin each day with a quote of the day and they are empowering themselves to accomplish great goals in Literacy.

My Project

As we read these empowering read alouds, such as Flight School and Perfect Square, my students will gain the confidence and motivation to achieve their reading goals this year. They will make connections to these books as we encounter things that they have continually struggled with. These books will give them the opportunity to believe in themselves!

As these books come alive in my class, we will refer to them daily as we face challenges in my class.

Since my Literacy class will also be with me in the afternoon, we will incorporate these books into our Social Studies units as well. These books will not only benefit our class, but give all of us life learning lessons to keep going and not give up!
