Every day, I am surrounded by the most amazing students! Even though they come from a variety of backgrounds, including race, religion, and family structure, we all work together to create a unique learning experience. We work hard at instilling a love of learning and exploring that will last a lifetime.
My students are truly exceptional!
They persevere when faced with a challenge, creatively inspire our community, and believe in one another. They are tomorrow's leaders and world-changers. They are our future, and together we can help them soar to their dreams.
My Project
This school year my students have been amazed by growing plants in our classroom greenhouse. They were amazed at how touch plants respond to one's touch and how mint plants can be used to make a tasty drink.
I want to help my students grow their curiosities and wonders of nature by creating an outdoor garden space.
We love our indoor greenhouse, but due to the limited size, we cannot grow as many items as we would like and that is why I would like to create an outdoor garden for my students. In the grow beds we will plant native wildflowers to help my students learn about the ecology of our state. We will also grow various vegetables to create healthy snacks such as salsa, cup salads, and various vegetable chips. Because I want to provide an opportunity for all students to have access to our garden and some students, due to their unique diversities, cannot move easily to work in the garden beds, we will use raised garden beds. In these, we will grow fruit, herbs to create additional tasty drinks, and even Italian herbs to put on muffin pizzas!
I also plan to incorporate STEM into our garden by having my students create unique watering devices!
My students are truly captivated by nature - seeing the process from seed to plant and beyond. This project will help me to take their passion further - allowing them to share their knowledge and harvest with their families and peers.
