My Students
I teach some pretty awesome kiddos that have faced some very untraditional times in education. The Covid pandemic has led to an abnormal amount of screen time. Not only do they play on a screen, but they have also spent a lot of learning time on a screen. I want to provide more opportunities for my students to learn and play OFF the screen. I want them to experience playing board games, taking turns, building STEM skills, math skills, and language skills through cooperative play.
All kiddos come to school excited to learn and see what kind of experiences await them each day.

My Project
I am looking to fill my classroom with engaging and educational math and reading games that are not on a screen. While learning to take turns, encouraging one another and practicing communication skills, these games will enhance independent work time and small group rotations in both reading and math subjects.
With the use of these educational games, I have a vision that students will be engaged and have fun while practicing essential skills to help them with core content areas.
Due to this pandemic, many of my students are below grade level in reading and math. By utilizing these games, students will gain the skills and confidence it takes to become successful readers and mathematicians. These educational games will be used in small group instruction as well as available during recess. They will address many of the areas that my students need practice on.
