Growing Together to Create a Community Garden

Help me give my students the materials needed to begin a school garden that can make a lasting difference in the lives of children, their families and our entire school community.

My Project

Gardening materials would be shared throughout the school community and allow for all students to work on this project. The students will use typical gardening tasks, such as planning, planting, caring and harvesting, to illustrate cultivation.

Students will learn firsthand the importance of plants, insects, birds and weather and the connection between our environment and the importance of taking care of our Earth.

School gardens will encourage teamwork, responsibility and a commitment to reaching the goal of a final product (flowers, vegetables, herbs, etc.) The hope is that the products grown will then be able to be incorporated into snack and lunch programs, so students benefit from the added nutritional value of school-grown produce.
