Growing Together: Planting Connections on International Day

Help me give my students colorful cupcake nursery pots to explore plant growth and sustainability through hands-on gardening during International Day and beyond!

My Project

At our school, International Day is a special event that brings our diverse community together to celebrate cultures, traditions, and the beauty of our global world. This year, I’m excited to introduce a hands-on activity for all students in grades K-4: planting in colorful cupcake nursery pots!

These vibrant pots will give our students the chance to explore plant growth while learning about sustainability and how plants connect to cultures worldwide.

Each child will plant a seed, care for it, and watch it grow, symbolizing how nurturing knowledge and understanding can lead to incredible growth in their own lives.

These resources will make a difference by transforming International Day into a meaningful, hands-on learning experience. The pots are not just planting tools; they’re opportunities for students to develop curiosity, responsibility, and pride in creating something of their own. From learning about seeds and soil to understanding how plants play a role in cultural traditions, this project will foster connections between science and the world around them.

What makes this project even more special is my students. They represent a beautiful tapestry of backgrounds, languages, and experiences. Many of them don’t have access to these kinds of hands-on activities at home, so this project will be an exciting and enriching experience.

My goal is to inspire my students to see themselves as caretakers of the earth and to celebrate the ways we are all connected. Thank you for helping me bring this vision to life and making International Day an unforgettable experience for our school community!
