The new carpet cleaner has already become one of our most valuable tools! Our classroom rug is the heart of our K–4 learning space it's where we gather for STEM challenges, morning meetings, science investigations, and social studies discussions. After years of heavy use, the rug needed some love, and your gift made that possible.\r\n\r\nThe first time my students saw the freshly cleaned rug, the reactions were priceless. They immediately noticed how colorful and soft it looked again. A few of them even sat down, slid their hands across it, and said, \"It smells so clean!\" and \"It looks brand new!\" It was a small moment that meant a lot they could see that our classroom is a place cared for and cared about.\r\n\r\nNow that the rug is clean and refreshed, we can comfortably use it again for hands-on STEM builds, robot challenges with Dash and Kubo, partner reading during social studies, and group discussions. It has restored an important gathering space where collaboration happens naturally. Our next steps include launching a new rotation of team-based engineering challenges, and I'm excited that the rug can once again be the safe, clean center of all that learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our classroom. The good news is that it's looking fantastic, and we're eagerly waiting for it to reopen this spring as you can see in the pictures. In the mean time we have been using some of the space in front of our school for outdoor play when the weather allows.\r\n\r\nWhen the field opens, I can't wait to load up my new cart with footballs, soccer balls, and other fun equipment and roll it out to the field. With Love That Dog and Hate That Cat by Sharon Creech, we're gently unpacking poetic structure while also exploring powerful emotions and personal expression. These novels-in-verse have already sparked meaningful conversations and opened the door for students to see poetry not as something intimidating, but as something deeply personal and accessible.\r\n\r\nWe're also exploring the creative and witty poetry collections of David Elliott. His work has our classroom buzzing with laughter, curiosity, and discovery—perfect for helping students connect with language in playful and meaningful ways. Every day, through shared reading, discussion, and writing, students are gaining the confidence to interpret and create poetry of their own.\r\n\r\nAlready, I've seen students who were once hesitant readers begin to lean in a little closer, ask deeper questions, and take more risks with their own writing.
