My Students

My students are eager young scientists that cannot wait to dive their minds into learning all they can about science. So many of my students have begun to relate and apply their everyday lives to the science world. Their creativity and excitement drive me to teach every single day.

Being a first year teacher has been the greatest challenge I have ever faced, but the look in each and every one of my students eyes when they finally understand a concept, makes this career worthwhile.

My students love how concepts in science change so often, how chemicals are magical tools that can change one substance to another in a matter of seconds, and basically how science is involved in every aspect of our lives. Professional development is crucial to ensure that I am doing my utmost best for the most important junior-scientists I know. My school provides professional develops in so many areas. Whether it is to provide support to my English Language Learners or development in Professional Learning Communities, my school is constantly striving for teachers to be best! I strive to grow each and every day, professionally, for my students. With the use of an iPad mini, I hope to utilize technology more to ensure that my students are on the top of a STEM- driven curriculum.

My Project

In a world powered by technology is the key to success for myself, as a teacher, and my students. Even more, parents are in constant contacts with teachers about their children's progress. With so many apps allow for grades to be posted, homework reminders to be sent, keeping parents updated with behavioral issues and so much more. For example, the Engrade app allows for students to be reminded of homework, projects, missing assignments, attendance, and so much more. The teacher assistant pro app can allow for me to contact parents with the touch of a button. I would like use technology PDs to help develop more lessons that incorporate a STEM-centered curriculum. Professional developments such as "Digital Classrooms" will help me do just this. I am applying to attend "Project ECS: Encouraging Connections through STEM" this summer and with the help of an ipad, I am hoping to learn how to bring more technology into my classroom by learning about technology myself.

Being a new teacher, I have so much to learn.

The experience thus far has been amazing and I am excited to grow into a better teacher for my scientists-in-training. With an iPad, I will be able to attend professional development workshops that help me incorporate more technology into my classroom. Learning how to use the numerous apps that are available to teacher will help my students and I have an ever-growing learning environment that provides rigorous learning.
