This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This would be my third year at HMS, my students have won my heart and carry it with them on a daily basis. The school is located in the center of the hard working class of East Hialeah, in which creates the atmosphere of also hard working students. The students whom go to this school have a high percentage of which fall into the lowest 25% bracket of reading and mathematics level, and the school has a lot of ESE and ESOL students. I am the 7th grade Language Arts Teacher and I see students struggle with comprehension and a lack of any passion to read. Many students find it boring with the textbooks provided at school and only read because they have to, not truly wanting to. When students start to find the urge to read that is when their minds will open and they will become truly engaged and willing to comprehend. I want to make my classroom stand out and be interesting for my students so they want to be involved and inspired!

My Project

The theater magnet at HMS is just beginning. This school only has a certain availability on fundraisers students can afford. I'd like for my students to be able to get a true theater experience and widen their dreams with all of the elements theater can offer. We have been discovering the different aspect of theater such as stage design and costume design but do not have the materials to put this forward.

I want to provide my students with price and inspiration, being able to put on their dream performance.

The paint will help us create our set pieces with colorful designs without have to figure out how to get more paint, the mannequin will allow our creative students to make costume designs, and the clothing rack will allow students designs to be hung up as well as any outfits and costumes for shows, making it more like an organized theater.
