My Students

Our class is focusing on experiencing a wide variety of quality literature. Books on CD will allow my students opportunities to hear authors read their stories in exciting presentations. Additionally, our emergent readers will be exposed to proper fluency, pace and intonation. It's a win-win!

We have a wonderful class of 30 students from 30 diverse backgrounds.

They love listening to stories, but currently we are lacking in science-based and fictional literature. Our class includes high achieving students, ELL students, new to the community students, emergent readers and special needs students. We are TRULY diverse in this class, but we have a strong sense of loyalty and community.

My Project

We are requesting various grade level appropriate books with CD's so our students may use a listening station as a rotation during our daily reading workshop or science study group. They will listen to works of literature and respond with writing, pictures or an oral retelling.

To develop a child's love of reading, it must be presented to them in a variety of formats.

Listening to stories read will promote excitement in genres of literature, develop confidence in low-level readers, and encourage all students to pursue reading mastery.
